Sweet Eve was being neglected in her former owner’s care and became evident that she was not healthy or safe in her current home. A Good Samaritan was able to convince the owner to surrender Eve to her. However, this person was not really in a position to take in a second dog when she could barely afford to care for her current one. Despite this situation, this new owner could not tolerate seeing this poor dog totally ignored, tethered in a yard, without any medical treatment given, not spayed, and clearly starving for human attention. To make things worse, Eve was suffering from a serious skin condition that needed immediate treatment, as well as a mild case of pyometra, a life-threatening infection of the uterus that can occur in dogs that are not spayed. Paws In Need was contacted to utilize both our low-cost spay & neuter program as well as financial assistance from our urgent care fund to ensure that this adorable dog received necessary medical care. Our trusted partners at Bishop Ranch Veterinary Hospital stepped up to manage her treatment, and successfully brought both the serious skin condition and uterine infection under control. Despite a very rough start, thanks to Paws In Need and its veterinary partner, Eve is now flourishing and has been given a second chance at a much better life.
