This big boy lives outside and a Good Samaritan takes care of him and makes sure he's fed and safe. He's been a local stray in her neighborhood for years and she did the right thing by having him neutered long ago. Garfield comes and goes and came back to the yard recently with a large abscess over his eye. She was terribly worried and took him to a local vet. It was such a large abscess, he had to be sedated, the abscess lanced, cleaned, and stitched. It was very expensive and she could not cover the entire bill. The veterinarian suggested our organization and we were able to contribute a financial assistance grant from our urgent care fund. Garfield came through with flying colors, the caretaker was able to get additional donations from two friends, as well, and the veterinarian also gave an extra discount. Sometimes it takes a village, but we are glad everybody came together in Garfield's time of need. He is recovering inside, but can't wait to go back out into the yard as soon as his stitches are out and he's back to his strong self. His caretaker was very grateful for our assistance.
