Silly Goose was an emaciated male puppy was found wandering alone, suffering from multiple untreated medical conditions and a debilitating leg injury likely the result of a traumatic event. A compassionate Good Samaritan brought him to a local animal shelter, but sadly with no owner claiming him, and no adopter available, his time was running out. Just as hope was fading, a foster home opened its doors. His immediate medical needs were addressed, and surgery was scheduled for what was initially believed to be a fractured hind leg. Captivated by his playful personality and joyful spirit, his foster lovingly named him Silly Goose. The veterinarians uncovered a long list of serious medical issues, including a severe ear infection, a mysterious abscess on his hind leg, and a rare cartilage abnormality affecting both eyes that would eventually require specialized care. More in-depth X-rays also revealed that his leg injury was far more complicated than originally thought and would require an advanced orthopedic procedure. At only eight months old and part Irish Wolfhound, a giant breed with a prolonged growth period, Goose was especially vulnerable to orthopedic injuries. Just when it seemed Goose's future was finally looking brighter, another obstacle emerged. His original financial sponsor unexpectedly withdrew their support, leaving his foster overwhelmed by the skyrocketing cost of his ongoing medical care. Then, as luck would have it, a close friend and dedicated animal advocate learned about Goose's plight and connected his foster with Paws in Need. After hearing Goose's story, the organization immediately agreed to help fund his surgery as well as treatment for his other medical conditions. Today, Goose is well on his way to recovery after his surgery, and is receiving care for his remaining medical issues. Without the generosity of Paws in Need, Goose's story would have ended very differently. When others were unwilling to help, this organization gave him something priceless, a second chance.
